Parents, Guardians, Swimmers,
Please take the time to read over this newsletter, in its entirety, with your family. We continue to take every and all measures administered by the New Jersey Department of Health to operate a successful swim season. This summer we are fortunate enough that we will be competing in our league against Northwest, Capri, and Holly City,
When coming into practice each day, all swimmers will enter through the main entrance and exit out of the gate near the basketball court as we did last summer. Due to the continued restrictive guidelines, please refrain from congregating in large groups of people as this violates social distancing. If we fail to follow these guidelines, we will not be able to have a safe, effective, and successful training season. In addition, you may refer to the CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19 on: https://newfieldswimclub.com/to gain a better understanding of all pool guidelines.
As of March 18, 2021 per the NJ Department of Health, “For outdoor sporting events, up to 500 spectators are permitted if the outdoor venue can accommodate appropriate social distancing. Athletes, coaches, and referees, are not counted towards the general outdoor gathering limit. If there is no unexpected surge in COVID-19 numbers, on Wednesday, May 19, the outdoor gathering limit will be removed”. (NJ Department of Health, 2021). Please stay tuned for more information to follow.
Swim Practice Times:
*Please arrive at the scheduled time as we have built in time for swimmers to stretch before they swim. First practice (15-18) needs to help prepare the pool in the morning before practice begins. The last practice(11-12) needs to help put everything away to prepare the pool for swim club members after practice each day*.
7:30AM-8:45AM: 15-18 & up
8:45AM-9:30AM: 6 & unders
We are asking all swimmers (11 and up) and parents to please sign the bottom of this letter stating that you have read and understand the terms for this summer’s swim season, and return it upon arrival at practice on Monday June 21, 2021. Please note, we ask that you please pick up your child promptly at the end of the designated practice time. Swimmers will not be permitted to stay at the pool after their practice time has ended. Even if the swimmer is a pool member, they must leave and return when the pool opens to members at 12:30.
Additional pointers please read as a family:
· Swim caps are required for both girls and boys; latex or silicone are preferred. If you need a swim cap, please ask during practices; $5 latex & $12 silicone.
· Please come to practice prepared with the following items: swim cap, goggles, water bottle, inhaler(if needed), and a towel. Please DO NOT SHARE any personal belongings with other swimmers.
· Please make sure all swimmers arrive to practices on time!
· If a swimmer is sick or injured, please do not bring them to practice.
· We ask that all swimmers are respectful and act appropriately when training both in and out of the pool. We are all here to help you train this summer. Unacceptable behavior (talking back, refusing to do sets, giving coaches an attitude, inappropriate language) will not be tolerated. We ask that you please try your best!
· Pool equipment, such as kickboards and pull buoys will be utilized this summer under coaches’ discretion. Any equipment used, handles, and bathrooms will be thoroughly disinfected after each practice to maintain safety.
· Parents that choose to come in during practice times should be socially distant under the pavilion and or in the grass (not by the baby pool and not on the pool deck).
We would like to welcome a new head coach to our team this season. Meghan (Eidam) Nurmikko is a Newfield Barracuda alumna and began swimming in 1997. Meghan also coached with the Barracudas for 5 seasons from 2004-2008. We look forward to having Coach Meghan back on the pool deck with us this season.
We would also like to welcome Junior coaches Jordan and Jackson to this season’s coaching staff and tell you a little about each of them.
“My name’s Jordan, and I’ve been swimming for 6 years. I’ve learned a lot from the coaches, like discipline and hard work. But my favorite thing about swimming for Newfield is the family aesthetic. I’ve made lifelong friends there, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The coaches are great, and the kids have fun, especially on fun Fridays. But as much as I love swimming, my favorite part has to be joking with my friends behind the blocks.”-Jordan
“My name is Jackson, and I have been with Newfield for three years but have been swimming for four years. I have not been a swimmer for long, but this swim team and family made me love it so much. The work we put in and the training we do is hard, but the result is great. The best part about this is the family we grew together and the friendships we share. I’m looking forward to this upcoming season as a Barracuda.” -Jackson
We want to thank you in advance for your cooperation this swim season. We are excited to be able to compete and have fun together this summer! Together the six coaches will work with your child to improve their strokes and foster a safe, fun environment where they can enjoy summer! If there is anything we can do to help you or your child, do not hesitate to contact a swim mom.

Coach Sara, Coach Nicole, and Coach Meghan
Hello to Parents and Swimmers,
Summer is quickly approaching, and arrangements are being made for the Summer 2021 Barracudas Swim Season. This season will surely be a return to the fun and excitement we are all accustomed to. It promises to be a great season with many returning swimmers and several new faces, as well.
We would like to welcome back our Coaches; Coach Sara Leonelli, Coach Nicole Fabrizio & Junior Coach Kristen Dwight. We would also like to extend a warm Barracudas welcome to Coach Meghan (Eidam) Nurmikko and Junior Coaches Jordan Force and Jackson Tubertini. Coach Meghan is a Newfield Barracuda alumna and began swimming in 1997. Meghan coached with the Barracudas for 5 seasons from 2004-2008. Meghan also swam year-round for the Vineland Seals before Buena High School had a team. Junior Coach Jordan has been swimming for the Barracudas for 6 years. He currently swims for the Delsea Crusaders and was a Junior Coach with the Narwhals this past season. Junior Coach Jackson has been swimming for the Barracudas for 3 years. He currently swims for the Buena Chiefs and was a Junior Coach with the Narwhals this past season. Coach Jordan and Coach Jackson have done a phenomenal job working with swimmers that require extra individualized attention. We are grateful to add them to the coaching staff.
As life begins returning to normal, we will be able to participate in dual meets, and Newfield will host the 2021 SJOSSL Championship meet at the end of July. However, we will still have to follow social distancing guidelines and all CDC and NJ Dept of Health guidelines. For 6 & unders or swimmers needing assistance, we will offer swim buddies. However, there will be an additional health waiver required for anyone who participates in this program. We will strive to make the season as normal as possible, but it still may not be how it was in the past.
Registration will be held on May 30th1pm-3pm and June 12th 10am-12pm at the Newfield Swim Club Pavilion. If this is your first season, please submit a photocopy of your swimmer’s birth certificate at registration.
