The Newfield Barracudas are a summer swim team that operates from June to mid-August. The team serves swimmers ages 3 to 18 years old with no prior swim experience required. The team provides competitive swimming instruction along with a focus on team bonding.
Team Dues:
The team competes in the Suburban Swimming Association of South Jersey League, in the National Division. Per league requirements, swimmers must be members of their home pool. The Barracudas offer a discounted swim club membership to help keep team fees affordable.
Membership Options (must choose 1):
A 50% deposit is due before Tuesday, May 27th. Payment can be made directly to a Swim Mom via cash or check. Balances are due Friday, July 12th. *** Make checks payable to Newfield Swim Team ***
This season’s practices will be grouped by coaches. Swimmers will be assigned to a specific group based on skill level at the discretion of the coaching staff. Swimmers can move from one skill group to another as they progress. A coach will discuss progress and any potential group changes with parents before moving swimmers.
Swimmers will compete according to their age group in swim meets.
Practices will begin immediately following Memorial Day, on Tuesday, May 27th. These practices will be outside in the evenings until school is done. On June 18th, 19th and 20th, the Shark practice will take place in the mornings. Regular morning practices will begin on June 23rd.
Practice times are as follows:
7:30-9:30am Sharks
9:15-10:15am Minnows
10:15-11:30am Stingrays
11:15am-12:30pm Dolphins
All swimmers should arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of their practice. The first practice of the day needs to help prepare the pool in the morning before practice begins. The last practice must help put everything away to prepare to open for members after practice each day.
We welcome back our Coaches: Sara Leonelli, Abigail Brous, Craig Tubertini, and Hannah Colavita- Jones. See their bios below
Welcome to our swim families for another fun summer. We are excited for what this summer will bring, and we hope you are too. We want this summer to be filled with positivity and to share great memories we can build together. This summer, we will continue to have team bonding events and fun activities for our swimmers this summer and hope that you can be involved. More information to follow, stay tuned 😊
Vacations or Absences: In order to get the most out of the season, we ask swimmers to attend at least four practices a week. However, we realize this is not always possible. If you have scheduled vacations or know a swimmer is going to be absent, please let us know in advance via the swimmer registration form or a written note.
Before the start of each new week, sign-out sheets for meets will be posted by the kitchen door. Parents are expected to add their swimmer’s name to the list if they will not be participating in that meet. It is important that coaches have an early, reliable headcount of who is available to attend each meet to make the lineup for that meet.
Additional Information and Code of Conduct:
Appropriate Swimming Behavior:
✦ We are here to help you improve, and therefore, swim practice is for swimming, not fooling around. Unacceptable behavior that prevents us from doing our job will not be tolerated.
✦ We expect you to exhibit good sportsmanship, both during practice and meets. Examples include swimming events you may not like without complaining, showing respect for your fellow teammates, maintaining a positive attitude, and exhibiting team spirit.
✦ You are always racing against the clock, not the person swimming next to you! Please try your best and always give 110 percent!
We want to thank you in advance for your interest and participation in the Newfield Swim Team. Together, all coaches will work with your child to improve their strokes while fostering a fun environment where they can enjoy the summer sun! If there is anything we can do to help you or your child, do not hesitate to contact a swim mom via the team email: newfieldbarracudas@gmail.com or registration link below. We look forward to your questions, feedback, and conversation!
